The Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm is one of my go-to makeup removers. I’ve already finished 2 tubs of this cleansing balm and I’m currently on my 3rd one. I use this product for my 1st cleanse to remove makeup and sunscreen. Before we go further with this review, let’s take a look at its ingredients, shall we?
Ingredients
Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Sorbeth-30 Tetraoleate, Polyethylene, PEG-5 Glyceryl Triisostearate, Water, Tocopherol, Phenoxyethanol
As we can see from the ingredients above, this product does not contain mineral oil which can be potentially pore-clogging for some people.
How does the Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm fare?
This product is a cleansing balm that transform from a solid balm into a light oil when you rub it in your palms before applying it to your face. It really helps to obliterate all forms of makeup and even the super waterproof mascara and eyeliner which I love to wear is no match for its cleansing power! It is one of the makeup removers which I reach for often simply because it works! After a long day at work and I’m feeling bone tired, I can be reassured of a clean face without any fuss or messy application. I apply this to a dry face and massage it all over. After that, I’ll emulsify it using some water and slowly rinse everything off. People usually recommend that you use a clean flannel or muslin cloth for removal when using cleansing balms. However I think that this product emulsifies quite easily when you use water and sometimes when I’m lazy, I don’t bother using my face cloth to remove it. I’ve no problems with that so far though! This cleansing balm also doesn’t make my face feel tight or leave a film after I remove it.
A solid white balm inside
The only “fault” that I could find with it is that this is a purely functional product. It doesn’t have any fancy oils or beautiful scent which makes you feel luxurious while using it. If I could compare this to a drink, I’ll simply say that it’s like water. Plain, simple and essential to a healthy life (or skin)!
Where can you find it?
This can be found on all Clinique counters all over Singapore. It retails for S$52 (125ml sized).
Thank you for reading!
