Review – REN Ultra Moisture Day Cream
I was just going through the articles on my blog and realised that I’ve never talked about the moisturisers that I’ve used or am currently using before. Actually I wasn’t very surprised that moisturisers are a category of skincare which slipped my mind. I really don’t require a lot from my moisturisers. I do not like “actives” in my moisturisers, preferring them to be in my serums instead. So what I end up using are relatively simple and basic moisturisers whose main purpose is to form an occlusive barrier to seal all the goodness of my acid toners and active serums inside my skin. My main criteria for my moisturiser is that it shouldn’t break me out or have a too siliconey texture which interferes with my sunscreen or makeup and causes flaking or “rolling”. REN’s Ultra Moisture Day Cream is a moisturiser that has fulfilled my criteria thus far. Let’s check out its ingredients, shall we?

How does the REN Ultra Moisture Day Cream fare?
REN claims that the Ultra Moisture Day Cream is a replenishing day cream that provides instant and long lasting hydration to leave dry skin soothed, optimally hydrated and looking beautifully healthy. By strengthening the skin’s natural barrier function it also improves long term hydration and moisture balance. Phytostimuline Peptide from the buds of organic Beech Trees strengthens skin structure and helps it to retain moisture while Hyaluronic Acid, sourced from Wheat provides lasting hydration. Ultra Moisture Day Cream is further powered by REN’s Global Protection Complex, a unique and potent blend of active ingredients: Antileukine from Seaweed, Tocotrienols from Arctic Cranberry Seed Oil, Kaempferol from Candle Tree Leaves and Leghemoglobin from Kudzu Zymbiozome. Together these actives fight free radicals and oxidants to protect skin from UV damage, inflammation and the signs of premature ageing.
Now no matter what REN claims that this product do, I can’t really testify for it. To me, this day cream feels and works just like a normal basic moisturiser that sinks in nicely even though it has a slightly thicker texture. REN claims that this product is for dry skin but I think that it is actually also suitable for combination skins or people who are in air-conditioned environment all day. I do not feel that this moisturiser is greasy or too thick. In fact, I think that people with truly dry skin might even find this product not hydrating enough if they use it on its own. In short, I do like this moisturiser but I’m not in love with it. Worth a try!
Where can you find it?
I bought the REN Ultra Moisture Day Cream from Cloud10Beauty. It retails at €29.95 (50ml sized).
