masque vivant

When I bought the Biologique Recherche Lotion P50 from Rescue Spa previously, they sent to me a small sample of their Masque Vivant. I have used this mask about 2 times and thought that I could give a short first impressions review of this masque.

As usual, let’s check out its ingredients below.

Yeast Extract (Faex Extract), Water (Aqua), Propylene Glycol, Bentonite, Kaolin, Alcohol Denat., Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Glycerin, Vinegar (acetum), Lactic Acid, Hamamelis Virginiana Bark/Leaf/Twig Extract, Hypericum Perforatum Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Acacia Senegal Gum, Xanthan Gum.

First Impressions of Masque Vivant

Me looking slightly demented and smeared with the baby poo looking masque!

Since I’ve only used this masque 2 times, I can’t really do a detailed review for you guys. So here’s a short first impressions review:

What is it?

Biologique Recherche Masque Vivant is the balancing mask par excellence. It contains high concentrations of Yeast, Cucumber, and Witch Hazel extracts renowned for their skin purifying properties. It is recommended for oily, combination, dull and/or less toned skin. In short, it’s a purifying mask.

Any results?

Yes, there’s some pretty good results but I don’t think I’ll be purchasing this product!

The honest-to-goodness truth of why I wouldn’t purchase this product is because this product simply and literally stinks to high heavens! It smells like rotten fermented fish sauce that’s been left out in a hot and humid environment for way too long. When I first applied this product to my face, I was already dry-heaving. But I bore with it for around 20 minutes (and smelling it all the way throughout) just to see if the results would compensate for the assault to my nose. The thing is that when I washed off the product, the smell became even more intense and I nearly vomited. The results are very good, don’t get me wrong. My skin looks very bright, smooth and some small pimples actually flattened. But I really can’t take the smell of this product even though some of my favourite food are fried smelly tofu and durians. For a product that works just as well but without the assault on your olfactory system, check out NIOD’s Flavanone Mask!

Where can you find it?

Just in case you are someone who’s either masochist or lost your sense of smell, you can purchase this product from Rescue Spa online. It retails at US$68 (3.4 oz. / 100ml sized)

Thank you for reading!
