Cosrx is a Korean skincare brand that I’ve became acquitted with quite recently. Cosrx, while not being a luxury Korean skincare brand like Sulwhasoo or The History of WHOO, has earned some skincare cred for providing effective skincare solutions at an affordable price. One of their famous product is this – Cosrx Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser. As usual, let’s check out its ingredients, shall we?
Water, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate, Polysorbate 20, Styrax Japonicus Branch/Fruit/Leaf Extract, Butylene Glycol, Saccharomyces Ferment, Cryptomeria Japonica Leaf Extract, Nelumbo Nucifera Leaf Extract, Pinus Palustris Leaf Extract, Ulmus Davidiana Root Extract, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Flower Extract, Pueraria Lobata Root Extract, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Allantoin, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Betaine Salicylate, Citric Acid, Ethyl Hexanediol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Sodium Benzoate, Disodium EDTA
How does the Cosrx Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser fare?
This product is a low-foaming gel cleanser that I usually use as a second cleanse in the evenings and as my only cleanser in the morning. What’s special about this product is that its pH is around 5.0 ~6.0 (similar to skin’s natural pH level). In case you do not understand the implications of what it means to use a low pH cleanser, read here. Basically, using a low-pH cleanser is key to maintaining a healthy skin moisture barrier and in turn decrease skin’s sensitivity as well as acne problems. In addition, this cleanser does not contain the usual SLS, SLES, Myristic Acid, Stearic Acid or Lauric Acid. Now, I’m not allergic to those ingredients nor do I think that those are “toxic” ingredients. However, I do think that if you are sensitive/ allergic to any of these common skin triggers, this cleanser might just be the one you’ve been searching for.
But enough with this analysis. Let’s get on to the performance of this product. How did it perform for me? Well, I do like this product. I think that it cleanses well without leaving any residue behind (a pet peeve of mine!). It also contains both a mild BHA and tea tree oil and that’s great for combating my hormonal acne problems. Although it’s not a product that’s going to elicit my gushing praises or my undying devotion to it, it’s actually a very functional product that you would reach for without thinking too much. In fact, I instinctively reach for this product so often that I’m finishing it up within 2 months and that is quite a feat considering my entire stash of cleansers. Once again, this is a fuss-free no-brainer product that just works well for my skin. Highly recommended for combination or oily skins!
Where can you find it?
You can buy this product from MyBeautyMoments online. Some Watsons stores also stock this brand. I’ve seen it being stocked at the large Watsons store at Ngee Ann City.
It retails at S$13.50 (150 ml sized).
