My FRESH face mask collection!

So, I bought the Christmas sets for FRESH face masks during the Sephora Black Friday sales and I’m going to give you guys a short review on all their masks.

The masks that I’m going to detail in this review are as below:

  • FRESH Sugar Face Polish
  • FRESH Rose Face Mask
  • FRESH Vitamin Nectar Vibrancy-Boosting Face Mask
  • FRESH Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask
  • FRESH Umbrian Clay Purifying Mask
  • FRESH Black Tea Firming Overnight Mask

How does the FRESH Sugar Face Polish fare?

FRESH Sugar Face Polish is a facial scrub, made with brown sugar and wild strawberries, that helps to exfoliate the skin and reveal a softer, smoother, more radiant complexion.

Ingredients for FRESH Sugar Face Polish:

Sucrose, Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Peg-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Stearalkonium Hectorite, Fragaria Vesca (Strawberry) Fruit, Propylene Carbonate, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candellila) Wax, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter, Limonene, Fragrance (Parfum), Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Fragaria Ananassa (Strawberry) Seed Oil, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Prunus Domestica Seed Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Water (Aqua), Tocopheryl Acetate, Potassium Sorbate, Citral, Geraniol, Linalool, Citronellol, Bht

Well.. To me, this functions like a normal manual facial scrub with granular sugar particles that assist in shedding off the top most layer of my dead skin cells. My skin does feel smoother and softer, but I suppose that most facial scrubs will do that for you. Because this product contains Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil which normally breaks me out, I’m kind of weary about using this product long term. Given that I only bought the mini-size version of this scrub (15g), I don’t think that I would purchase the full-size version of this product. I must also comment on the smell of this product. You know, I’ve always somehow thought that it would smell like caramel or some other gourmand smell but it actually smells of fermented skincare! If you don’t know how fermented skincare smells like, well.. It smells slightly sourish, as though it’s slightly not so fresh (a FRESH product not smelling fresh?! LOL..). Just something to note if you are sensitive to smells in your skincare. It was surprising to me indeed!

How does the FRESH Rose Face Mask fare?

The FRESH Rose Face Mask is a product that I’d wanted to try for a long, long time. In fact, it has been 15 years (yup! it had been that long!) since I’ve known of this product and wanted to try it. The thing which fascinated me at that time was that this mask is made with real rose petals and is touted to be exceptionally soothing and hydrating. The 17 year-old me was so intrigued with the notion of having real rose petals on my face and have always wondered how this product would smell like.

Ingredients for FRESH Rose Face Mask:

Aqua (Water), Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Pentylene Glycol, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Rosa Centifolia Flower, Maris Aqua (Sea Water), Rosa Damascena Flower Water, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Oil, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Porphyridium Cruentum Extract, Rosa Damascena Flower Oil, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Aspalathus Linearis Leaf Extract, Faex (Yeast Extract), Sodium Hyaluronate, Carbomer, Tetrasodium EDTA, Sodium Hydroxide, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glyceryl Acrylate/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Caramel, Maltodextrin, Parfum (Fragrance), BHT, Citronellol, Phenoxyethanol

Well, the 32-year old me can confirm that this product indeed smells beautifully of roses. This scent is unlike the old-fashioned grandma smell that are sometimes prevalent in rose scents. The scent of the FRSH Rose Face Mask is a lovely green fresh rose smell that is also modern at the same time. True to its claims, it is also very hydrating and soothing and my skin looks very bright, calm and plumped up after I rinse off this mask. I’m so glad that my expectations of this mask did not cause me to feel underwhelmed by its effects. In fact, I truly think that it’s a lovely mask that should suit the skins of most people.

How does the FRESH Vitamin Nectar Vibrancy-Boosting Face Mask fare?

I didn’t have any expectations whatsoever for this mask simply because I’ve not yet been exposed to any marketing claims for this product. I knew that it was launched in 2016 but I don’t really see many advertisements either online or on print for it. Maybe it’s good that I don’t have any impressions of this product so that I could truly judge its effects based solely on what I see on my face.

Ingredients for FRESH Vitamin Nectar Vibrancy-Boosting Face Mask:

Water, Glucose, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Citrus Clementina Fruit Extract, Citrus Sinensis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Fructose, Glycerin, Sucrose, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Vaccinium Myrtillus Fruit Extract, Pyrus Cydonia Seed Extract, Saccharum Officinarum (Sugar Cane) Extract, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Acer Saccharum (Sugar Maple) Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate, Tocopherol, Xanthan Gum, Butylene Glycol, Sclerotium Gum, Tetrasodium EDTA, Sodium Citrate, Parfum (Fragrance), Panthenol, Caramel, Sodium Metabisulfite, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Magnesium Aspartate, Zinc Gluconate, Copper Gluconate, CI 75120 (Annatto), Phenoxyethanol, Limonene.

The FRESH Vitamin Nectar Vibrancy-Boosting Face Mask is touted to be an instant  glow-giving face mask that’s made with with a concentrated citrus blend of crushed oranges, lemons, and clementines and potent vitamin fruit complex such as Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and Vitamin B5; lemon and orange fruit extracts; and revitalising minerals. It helps to gently refine the appearance of the skin to soften, smooth, and improve clarity. TLDR; it’s basically an AHA (sort of!) skin refining mask. Although this mask does not contain typical AHAs such as glycolic acid or lactic acid, the fruit extracts basically work in the same way as AHAs to exfoliate the skin surface and refine the pores.

This mask, surprisingly, is my favourite out of all the masks that I’ve bought. The mask itself looks like orange marmalade and has a citrus-fruity smell which I love. There’s bits of the orange or lemon pulp included in the mask which contributes to the interesting jam-like texture of this product. I just smear a thin layer of it all over my face and wash it off after about 15 minutes. It takes a bit of effort to rinse off all the fruit pulp from your face but the end results are stunning. My face looks so even-toned and bright with an intense glow afterwards. I actually looked like I’ve been drinking 8 glasses of water, eating super healthy food, exercising regularly and always had 8 hours of sleep all my life. The glow is unreal, you guys!

How does the FRESH Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask fare?

FRESH’s Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask with advanced antioxidants is a hydrating treatment that claims to immediately reveals softer, firmer, healthier-looking skin. The innovative formula’s velvety whipped texture has an immediate cooling effect to refresh the skin and the senses. I had originally thought that this mask would be my favourite out of all the masks that I’d bought. I saw so many reviews from people claiming this mask to be their holy grail. However, I think it was just an okay mask to me and apart from some softening of my skin, I can’t really see much effects after using it.

Ingredients for FRESH Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask:

AQUA (WATER), GLYCERIN, RICE FERMENT FILTRATE (SAKE), CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, PENTYLENE GLYCOL, SODIUM POLYACRYLATE, BETAINE, SACCHAROMYCES FERMENT FILTRATE, CAMELLIA SINENSIS LEAF EXTRACT, AVENA SATIVA (OAT) KERNEL EXTRACT, VITIS VINIFERA (GRAPE) SEED OIL, LITCHI CHINENSIS SEED EXTRACT, RUBUS FRUTICOSUS (BLACKBERRY) LEAF EXTRACT, ROSA DAMASCENA FLOWER OIL, SODIUM HYALURONATE, ADENOSINE, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, TOCOPHEROL, ETHYLHEXYL PALMITATE, POLOXAMER 407, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, PARFUM (FRAGRANCE), HYDROGENATED LECITHIN, MENTHOXYPROPANEDIOL, MALTODEXTRIN, SILICA, CI 77891 (TITANIUM DIOXIDE), TRIHYDROXYSTEARIN, HYDROXYETHYLCELLULOSE, DISODIUM EDTA, SODIUM CITRATE, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, CITRIC ACID, CARAMEL, HEXYLENE GLYCOL, POTASSIUM SORBATE, BHT, BIOTIN, PHENOXYETHANOL, LINALOOL

How does the FRESH Umbrian Clay Purifying Mask fare?

Umbrian Clay Purifying Mask is a triple-threat noncomedogenic treatment that can be used as a purifying face mask, a daily deep cleanser, or a spot treatment to minimise small imperfections. I think that this is a good clay mask and does whatever it claims to do. I’m not sure if I would repurchase its full-size version though. I’ve got too many different clay masks that I love.

Ingredients for FRESH Umbrian Clay Purifying Mask:

Solum Fullonum (Fuller’s Earth), Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Pentylene Glycol, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Leaf Extract, Fusanus Spicatus Wood Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower Water, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Oil, Sodium Chloride, Xanthan Gum, Polyacrylamide, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Laureth-7, BHT, Alcohol, Farnesol, Linalool, Phenoxyethanol.

How does the FRESH Black Tea Firming Overnight Mask fare?

This product is another surprise winner in my books. It is an overnight mask that you’ll leave it on over your moisturiser and claims to allow you to awaken with lifted and firmer-looking skin every morning with constant use. Well, I don’t know if my face is lifted or not. But I can tell you that it does leave your face incredibly soft, smooth and deeply replenished every time I use this product. Very nice! 5 stars!
